Corporate Christmas Events & End-of-Year Rewards

The year is drawing to a close and many businesses are now well into planning how they will mark the 2022 Christmas season. For some of you, this may mean prepping for the end-of-year Christmas Rewards. However, we have noticed that office parties are not as common as they once were. As a result of COVID restrictions, but even before the pandemic lockdowns, many large corporations and businesses have been rethinking Christmas festivities and seeking a more beneficial opportunity to promote staff health and wellbeing.

Spending money on food and drinks can lead to people overindulging and feeling worse for wear. Depending on when your Christmas party is held, it can impact attendance at work the next day. Although it is less common these days, in extreme cases, supplying alcohol can lead to staff getting involved in risky behaviours.

Christmas events are not for everyone

It’s also important to remember that not everyone feels festive at Christmas. Those experiencing grief, loss, depression, or anxiety can be utterly overwhelmed at the thought of trying to show up to a party, put on a brave face, and pretend they are in a festive mood. The Christmas season can be hard for all sorts of people for all sorts of reasons.

There are also plenty of people from diverse religions and faith backgrounds for whom Christmas isn’t a particularly special or meaningful occurrence. It is also a time when employee wellness levels may lull. Some staff may be overwhelmed with managing their family responsibilities, while others will simply be ready to wind down from the year.

Unique ways of celebrating at work

With all this in mind, it makes sense to rethink how you will mark Christmas this year. Many social, school and community responsibilities crop up from early December onwards. One great way to reward staff is to offer them some flexibility around working hours as the holidays approach. Another way to show appreciation is to give a financial bonus. Some employers like to give gift cards to local businesses as a special way to say thank you at the end of the year.

At Corporate Hands, we know there is no better way to boost employee morale, and help employees to feel restored and reinvigorated than to offer a Christmas and end-of-year roving office massage. We’re encouraging all employers to think outside of the box and provide a yuletide treat that will bring benefits for employee wellbeing. Our roving massage services offer an affordable and accessible option for an end-of-year treat.
